This and That
I know, I’ve been slacking on my posts, but everyone knows that you use less technology in the summertime. That’s a lie. I’m just trying to make excuses.
A recap:
I took my dad to see José González for a late father’s day gift. The show was great. He sounded amazing and the mood was mellow. We both had a good time. I ran into a girl I knew, she was there with her friend and her friends’ father. I guess this means José is father friendly music, which I’d totally agree with.
I celebrated my 27th birthday on July 4th. It was uneventful (the birthday), but fun. I rode into Red Hook, drank some whiskey beers, watched fireworks from the pier and walked around enjoying the night. I’m glad to be leaving 26 behind. It was a difficult year, but I needed a shake. I’m pretty sure I was asleep at the wheel for the earlier part of the 2000’s, but I’m back! I tried convincing my friends to celebrate a fake birthday for me sometime in March. I like my birthday, but I’ve never had that random Tuesday night where your friends take you out to dinner and go drinking at a local dive bar, all in celebration of your birthday. Or the chance to suck up to your elementary school principal and bring him a cupcake your mom made for your classmates. Different, yet similar.
Lately I’ve been attracting some odd people. Not physically, but in the “WTF did you just say to me?” sense. Random people have been telling me very strange things. Maybe I have the face that says “I’ll accept you no matter what,” which isn’t a bad thing, but I’d like to be spared certain details. I should start walking around with a stink face on to see if people still want to tell me about their fungus problems.
The World Cup. I’m part Italian. I rooted for France and I’m not ashamed of Zidane. He was completely and totally provoked. I’ve watched the video again on youtube and you can see where he snaps. I’m not sure if it was the right time to do it, with 10 minutes left in his career, but obviously something was said and he reacted on impulse. I’m interested to see where this goes during the next week. Watching sports is fun…when you’re interested. Wasn’t that so profound?
